This spring you will be able to find out exactly what it feels like, and just how much it relaxes and enables your body to rest, reduce tension, and foster healing, as Gastown gets a public, full-service "Float House' with five private, top quality tanks.

For 90 minutes, lie (float) in 800 pounds of epsom salt diluted into 10 inches of water heated to match your own body temperature. The pitch black tank and earplugs allows your body to forget about the outside world and all of your worries and day-to-day stresses.

"When you're in this environment, what happens on a phsyiological level is a relaxation response," explains founder Mike, who has been working on bringing this project to Gastown for years with his brother Andy, "It is the opposite feeling of fight or flight. Without any sensory input coming in, the opposing side of the nervous system is activated." The duo have been working to materialize this passion project for the past five years, and it is finally coming to fruition this Spring. The two float at least twice a week in their private tank, a ritual that adds to their healthy lifestyle and from which the two have experienced amazing healing results.
