A little over two years ago Vancouver artist Dominique Fricot got rid of his apartment and most of his earthly possessions to follow his project Folk Road Show back to Europe to start a new chapter. After several tours across Europe with the group while releasing his last solo album Deserts last year and setting up a new home in Berlin, Germany, Fricot is back in town for one fantastic evening at his favourite Vancouver haunt; Guilt and Co. On Monday January 6th come sink deep into the rich baritone of the artist who brought you Peak 102.7 and CBC radio mainstays such as “Haunted by Love” and “I miss the 80s”.

John Korsrud Latin Quintet plays high-energy salsa and latin-jazz from Cuba and South America, featuring tunes by composers such as Eddie Palmieri, Chucho Valdez, and Arturo Sandoval. With John Korsrud – trumpet, Dave say – saxophone, Raphael Geronimo – drums, Niho Takase – piano, Ronnie Swirl – bass, and Chris Couto – percussion. John is best known as the leader of the 18-piece Hard Rubber Orchestra, and is the recipient of the 2012 City of Vancouver Mayor’s Arts Award for Music. John’s wide range of experiences has seen him performing for Canadian punk legends DOA, to soloist for the Vancouver Symphony and New York’s American Composers Orchestra.
