//NewFutures//Forged in the heart of Gastown, this new album from Canadian trumpeter Malcolm Aiken highlights the sounds brewed up in the over his 4 year residency right here at Guilt & Company. The sound is dubbed-out jazz-fusion with down tempo grooves, ambient textures, and vintage synths that set the mood for his lyrical trumpet tone. A synergy emanates that recalls the sounds of Bob James and Electric Miles, with modern beats inspired by J Dilla, Flying Lotus and Robert Glasper.
