And the same could be said for seasonal changes that appear in March, weather-wise. We’ve since had our fair share of winter wet and gloom, of life under an umbrella, of days cut short. We now want to sit in the sun and feel summers warmth upon us. We want to see daffodils and crocuses dance in a soft breeze. Winter’s almost gone now. It’s time for spring.



Pourhouse: great cocktails + live music

As if doing the Charleston through a time portal, the Pourhouse is a step back through the decades to a time of speakeasies, bootleg gin and jazz. Housed in a 100-year-old building, built in 1910 for the Leckie Boot Company – you’ll find Douglas fir ceilings, supported by large wood pillars, brick walls and antiques. The cornerstone is the 38 ft. Bar – masterfully handcrafted from 120 year-old planks of reclaimed Douglas fir. The house boasts one of the best and most original cocktail menus in the city, where such tasty licks as The Manifesto Cocktail (Appleton 12 yr rum, Cerise de Café, Ardbeg 10 yr Scotch, chocolate bitters) or Lady Liberty (Laird’s Applejack, Amaro Montenegro, Pineau de Charentes, Peychaud’s bitters) can be sipped leisurely or gulped surreptitiously to live music on various nights of the week.

In March we’re gonna party like it’s 1970!

Old Spaghetti Factory celebrates 50 years in Gastown with the return of their retro $1.75+ entree menu.

To celebrate their 50th anniversary, OSF will be bringing back their original menu from 1970! For one day only, on March 3rd, from 11am-8pm, come to the Gastown location, and enjoy an array of all-inclusive Spaghetti entrees from $1.75-$1.95. All proceeds go to the BC Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund, with an additional opportunity to donate to fund at the event.

On Friday March 20th, 2020, No. 1 Gaoler’s Mews will be hosted by Chef Lee Cooper and Chef Antonin Mousseau-Rivard of Le Mousso and Le Petit Mousso in Montreal. Le Mousso was ranked #6 on Canada’s 100 Best in 2019 and Mousseau-Rivard himself was awarded Most Innovative Chef at the same time.

The two chefs are planning a collaborative multi-course dinner that will bring together Chef Mousseau-Rivard’s neo-nordic cuisine and Chef Cooper’s French via West Coast cuisine all paired with wines from L’Abattoir’s reserve cellar.

All proceeds raised through ticket sales will be donated to the BC Hospitality Foundation.

Stil Classics – Now Open

Once hidden away in a tidy office on Homer St, Stil Classics are soon to open their first brick & mortar on Cambie Street.

Self described as a company by women, for women. Stil creates planners, notebooks, and other stationery to help women get organized and hit their goals. Stil is the vision of Marissa Cristina, a half Dutch/half Swiss designer and entrepenreur who launched the brand in 2015.

The name Stil comes from the German noun ‘Der Stil’ signifying style, class, fashion and a way of living. The name was inspired by a Dutch artistic movement called De Stijl. They simplified visual compositions and used only primary shapes and colors along with black and white.

Stil Classics kicks off with their grand opening on Thursday February 27.
