What does this mean?

Our buildings may be old, but our spirit is anything but that. While our history is persistently being cherished and celebrated, you can also feel the vibrancy and vitality on our streets as of late with new creatives and entrepreneurs adding their own splash of colour to the neighbourhood.

The facades may be getting altered with the new spirit, but the heart – or the old soul – is very much intact. 

July meets us with some colour. But this colour isn’t coincidental. It’s a direct correlation between the honesty and realness of our people and visitors. The diversity and forever creative spirits that live, work and play in Gastown.

One colour stroke at a time. Weaving in the old and the new. This is Gastown today.

It’s no secret that Gastown has some of the best independent shops in the city. Find carefully curated items that can be found #OnlyInGastown. New, old and ever-changing. Each shop has its own unique experience. Shopping is done a little differently here.

Food & Drink

We may have had a slow start this year, but patios are beginning to dot the neighbourhood. As the blue skies unfold, large patio umbrellas will do the same. Inviting you into an urban oasis to sip some of the finest crafted cocktails around. Surrounded by live acoustics from the street performers and likeminded cocktailians and heliophiles. Gastown is Patiotown.

Design & Culture

Every Thursday night, Gastown’s cobblestoned streets transform into mini stages in four different locations (Cordova, Cambie, Abbott, Maple Tree Square). Allow the acoustics to move you throughout the neighbourhood or enjoy from the comfort of your favourite patio. Every corner you turn. Discover the unexpected.

Every Thursday from now until the sun stop shinning (aka mid September). 5-8pm (Gastown streets), all day (multiple Gastown venues).
