Mother’s Day 2019 Brunch In Gastown

We thought we’d send you a pleasant reminder that it’s Mother’s Day this weekend (Sunday May 12).
First things first – don’t panic and, yes, she loves you anyway, regardless of whether or not there’s a table filled with food, flowers or the ‘perfect’ gift’.
We can only imagine the sacrifices our mothers make, the good acts done selflessly behind the scenes, the things she did for us that helped us along the way. Mother’s Day is a chance to acknowledge all that and to appreciate her by saying: ‘thank you.’
And, it can be a day to have some genuine fun. The neighbourhood is filled with activities, sights and diversions, wonderful shopping and some of the best restaurants in the city with many serving brunch. You’ll find plenty of variety in cuisine, from Mexican to French along with waffles, classic eggs toast and bacon and freshly baked goods. Treat your mumsie dearest to a day in Gastown and earn enough brownie points for at least another 364 days.
The Flying Pig in Gastown serves hearty country kitchen cooked fare with the likes of French Toast with Maple Blueberry Compote, Chef Erik’s Croque Madame,Wild Mushroom/Asparagus/Chèvre Frittata, Country Style Breakfast, and Signature Corned Beef Hash.

Water Street Cafè serves an abundant brunch inspired by West Coast and classic breakfast cuisine. The menu includes a West Coast Crab Cake Benny, Smoked Salmon Benny, Pork Belly Benny, Sausage and Egg Ragout, Stuffed French Toast, Avocado Toast and House Made Granola. Also available during brunch hours is the Lunch Classics menu which includes various pastas, chowders, seafood appies, salads, sandwiches and burgers.
The chef will be preparing a special $35 3 course dinner menu this Sunday evening starting at 5pm.
Brunch served Saturday and Sunday from 11am.
Ranked 22 out of Canada’s Top 100 Restaurants list, L’abattoir serves a delectable brunch within a comfortable setting along with fantastic service and a generous list of bubblies, cocktails, ciders and non alcoholic fancy drinks. Dishes include a basket of baked goods, poached eggs with smoked pork belly, buttermilk and ricotta pancakes, steak frites, crispy chicken salad, spring vegetable quiche, and a full breakfast with house sausage.

La Mezcaleria is a traditional Mexican with a focus on mescals. Weekend brunch includes horchata, chilaquiles verdes, huevos divorciados, migas con chorizo, hash bacon tomato benny, sweet orange cream cheese crepes, and ensalada de fruitas.
Served Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until 2pm.Jules Bistro is a quaint and casual French restaurant with a lovely enclosed little patio looking out onto Abbott Street. Brunch includes french onion soup gratinee, roasted waffles, breakfast cassoulet, and fresh baked mini croissants.

Tuc Craft Kitchen is well known around Gastown for creating dishes that are hearty, wholesome and simply delicious. Everything is nicely plated with good portions. Some of the brunch items we recommend include whirled peas & eggs, pig & eggs, green bean & debris, crispy chicken & waffles, and waffles & pig.

The Blarney Stone whips up a cracking good brunch on the weekends with belly filling delights like an Irish breakfast, beggars breakfast, the Finnigan, classic belgian waffles, O’Benedicts, classic steak & eggs, and deep fried mars bars.

The Cambie Pub is a great place to go to with a large group of friends. The patio is nicely situated at the corner of Cambie and Cordova and the atmosphere is casual, open, energetic and friendly. What was once but a distant memory has now come home to flourish yet again. In other words, brunch is back baby! The Pourhouse is serving brunch starting May 11. Dishes include peameal bacon sandwich, the classic breakfast, mushroom frittata, veggie hash, French toast, cotechino sausage and beans, 6 oz flat iron or 16 oz bison ribeye steak & eggs.

The Irish Heather is one of the city’s most cherished pubs, and for good reason. Here you’ll find a warm welcome, a well drawn pint, and hearty home cooked fare. Brunch includes bacon egg sausage roll, avocado toast, mushroom toast, curry chips, and hot corned beef sandwich.
Bruch is served on the weekends from 11.30 am til around 3pm.
Housed in the historic Dominion Hotel, The Lamplighter traces its roots back to 1925 as one of the first licensed pubs in the city. Their abundant brunch menu includes fried chicken and waffles, the hangover burger, avocado toast & poached eggs, breakfast sandwich, and eggs benedict.

Situated at the base of the mighty Woodward’s Building, The Charles Bar has a fun little patio and great banquette seating indoors. They serve a killer Breakfast Poutine along with a vegetarian Quinoa Benny, Country Fried Breakfast Sandwich , California Benny and Avocado Toast.
