St. Patrick’s Day In Gastown -Where to Get Your Irish On!
Written by Gastown Admin
Tis’ a day that comes but once a year and in Gastown, we know how to celebrate St Patty’s Day.
With many of our fine pubs participating, you’ll find fun, good fare and true Irish frivolity, unlike anywhere else in the city.
On Friday March 17th, the neighbourhood will be alive with shamrocks and shenanigans including live traditional music, Irish dancing, a street party and Irish food and drinks. Calling all leprechauns, rougues, lads and lassies! Everyone is welcome to come to Gastown for some real craic agus ceol! And with celebrations on the go every day leading up to Friday, you’ll feel like you’re looking over a four leaf clover!
The Blarney Stone
All who pass by this mighty place are blessed with the gift of the gab. The Blarney Stone is Irish central this week with celebrations daily. Come share in Blarney’s St. Patrick’s Festival which continues today and up to the 17th. Why celebrate for a day when you can party all week?!
Festival events include: Red Truck Presents Irish Trivia, St Patricks Day Eve Party and their St Patricks Day Festival. Tickets to all events can be purchased here.
On March 17th from 9am-3am, Blarney Stone is the ultimate St Patricks Day party destination!
The outdoor festival features live music, hula hoopers, face painters, Irish pipers, Irish Dancers, and stilt walkers. Fun for the whole family!
Live Music all day and night by The Doolins, The Loaded Stones, The Sheets, Mike Chisolm, Michael Averill, Nick Farrer, and U4.
The Irish Heather
Vancouver’s only Irish owned Irish pub, The Irish Heather is as authentic as you can find off the Island. The gastropub proudly boasts an extensive list of whiskies and scotches along with unique cocktails and rest assured, they do know how pour a proper pint of Guinness.
Start in the Heather and wend your way into the adjacent Shebeen Whisky House. Here you’ll find more than a character or two to engage with in good conversation. There will be traditional Irish music, good times and a few drink specials to get you in the celtic vibe.
The Portside Pub
If you just can’t wait til Friday to don your huge green afro and Kiss Me! I’m Irish! shirt then head down to The Portside Pub for their St. Portside Eve party on Thursday March 16th at 9pm.
Presented by Savage Entertainment and featuring great drink specials and beats by DJ Zono & Drake.
