THINGS TO CHECK OUT THIS WEEK IN GASTOWN
Written by Gastown Admin
ARE YOU READY TO SHOP HOP?
It’s the final countdown… The Fall Shop Hop goes this Thursday night from 5-9pm and you’ll want to be there. We’ve got more than 40 boutiques on this list this season and another 11 restaurants ready to help you take it up a notch with a little wine-ing and dining. The full list of participating shops can be found here and we’ll have some tips on how to do it right on the blog tomorrow!
INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION = LOCAL CELEBRATION
Shebeen has been nominated as one of the top international whiskey bars in the world and the only Canadian establishment to crack the top 10. The 2015 Irish Whiskey Awards will take place on October 15 at the Teeling Distillery in Dublin, Ireland, but we’re pretty sure there will be some celebrating right here in Gastown. Why? Well it’s also #ThirdThursday and that means the Whiskey Wisemen are taking over.
Whether you’ve been before or are new to the Whisky Wisemen community, you’ll want to make it to this one. The event starts at 7pm (till late) and is a fun way to connect with existing friends and meet new people. Whether you come alone or with a group, there is something for everyone, including the best Whisky selection in all of Vancouver.
HAVE ‘BRUNCH AT THE BAR’
This past weekend was the first for L’Abattoir‘s new ‘Brunch at the Bar’ program. The first ten people to sit at the bar for brunch on Saturday and Sunday enjoyed a complementary mimosa. So, the only question is…will you be there this weekend? As an added bonus, guests who post a photo of their experience to Instagram, Twitter or Facebook with the hashtag #BrunchAtTheBar have a chance to win their next brunch on the house. Yum.
NEED WINGS?
Haven will be showcasing the wings + horns FW 2015 collection this Saturday from 11am to 7pm. They’ll also be releasing the exclusive wings + horns x HAVEN sneaker capsule collection and there’s an opportunity to meet head designer Tung Vo. It all happens in their shop at 52 East Cordova Street.
MORE TAPAS FOR ALL!
The San Sebastian Experiment at Salt Tasting Room has been extended. It was so popular with patrons that the team has decided to just keep going until November 8th with a slight change to the times. You’ll be able to tuck in to delicious tapas from 4-5:30pm Tuesday to Saturday and 4pm to close on Sunday and Monday. Tables must have six or fewer guests to participate and you can even make a reservation here.
TRUVELLE IS THINKING PINK THIS MONTH
In honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Truvelle is donating 10% of proceeds on any gowns with rose gold sequins, blush fabrics as well as blush sashes to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. This includes any items from Truvelle’s Maker Collaborations with pinkish elements. The promotion will run through the entire month of October and will only be applied to in-store purchases, at Truvelle’s first flagship, located right here in Gastown at 235 Cambie St.
