Pop Up Wine Bar at Nouvelle Nouvelle

Nouvelle Nouvelle is hosting ‘Almost Summer,’ a pop up wine bar event happening this Thursday June 5th from 7-9 p.m. This event features wine from BC’s Roads 13 Vineyards, complimentary snacks from Nelson the Seagull, and special promotions on Nouvelle Nouvelle’s Spring/Summer merchandise.

Pin Up Hair & Make Up Workshops at New World Beauty Bar

New World Beauty Bar, a retro style beauty venue inside New World Designs, is hosting a series of pin up hair and makeup workshops every Monday in June from 6-9 p.m. Learn how to do perfect Victory rolls, finger waves, bombshell beehives, and roller sets!

June 9 – Pinup makeup and victory rolls
June 16 – Flapper styles and finger waves
June 23 – Vintage roller sets
June 30 – Beehives, big hair, and bombshells

Workshops are $40 each, or $120 to participate in all four workshops.

Winnow Wednesdays at East Van Roasters

Join East Van Roasters for their Winnow Wednesdays to learn about chocolate making, enjoy the company of friends and try some fabulous cacao while volunteering for an important social enterprise in the downtown eastside.

What is winnowing? Winnowing is taking the papery shell off of the freshly roasted cacao bean. East Van Roasters uses 22 kg of winnowed cacao beans to make one batch of chocolate. The Winnow Workshops will be held on Wednesday June 4th and 18th, between 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Fritz Hansen & Poul Kjaerholm Event at Inform Interiors

Join Inform Interiors this Tuesday, June 3rd, 5-7 pm, to view Poul Kjærholm iconic pieces and to hear a short presentation celebrating Poul Kjærholm’s illustrious career by Adrian Pollack, Fritz Hansen Sales Manager. Inform Interiors will be serving traditional Danish treats and cocktails, as well as giving away a copy of Michael Sheridan’s book Poul Kjærholm Furniture Architect.

Spirit Wrestler Northern Exposure Exhibit

The Spirit Wrestler Gallery is pleased to host the 8th annual Northern Exposure exhibition representing the graduating students and instructors of the Freda Diesing School of Northwest Coast Art. The opportunity to have master-level instruction has attracted students from many of the Northwest Coast First Nations and each student is encouraged to explore their own tribal style, as well as finding their personal artistic voice. You can view this incredible exhibition until Saturday, June 21st.

Destructo with Sleepy Tom Live at Shine Nightclub

On Friday June 6^th, Shine Nightclub will present Destructo. Destructo (Gary Richards) began DJing and producing undergrounds in the early 90s in Los Angeles, most notably creating RaveAmerica at Knotts Berry Farm. This year alone, Destructo has rocked crowds alongside Rusko, Diplo, and Fatboy Slim, as well as performing at international festivals, World Electronic Music Festival (WEMF) and Australia’s Stereosonic.
