Gastown BBQ & Chili Festival Returns This Weekend!
The Gastown BBQ & Chili Festival returns on August 30th and August 31st – and this might just be the best one yet! This year’s festival has a larger event site, more vendors, a big-name musical act, and more.
Twelve Gastown restaurants will compete in an outdoor cookout offering the best barbecued beef brisket, pork ribs, chicken wings, and more. Eager tasters can sample what each restaurant has to offer through taster tokens, sold at the event.
The event festivities will take place on the 200 block of Carrall Street between Water and Cordova streets. The entire street will be lined with picnic tables, street performers, a beer stand, dancing area, and large musical stage for headlining performances by Bend Sinister, The Deep End, and The Sheets. Local celebrities including sports stars, famous chefs, and TV personalities, will also participate in this year’s festivities!
This all-ages festival is free to attend, so come down for two fun filled afternoons with great food, entertainment, and family fun in the sun. Proceeds will benefit Athletics for Kids, a non-profit that provides financial aid to help children throughout the province participate in organized sports. Visit here for more event information.
Stussy’s Men’s Fall 2014 Collection
It’s never too early to start thinking about new threads. The anticipated Fall 2014 collection from West Coast streetwear brand, Stussy, has hit the floors of their Gastown store at 49 Powell Street. Stussy has reached new heights with their popular easy to wear basics, so make sure to drop by and get your hands on their new men’s collection while it’s still on the racks.
Doc Martin Live
If there was a house DJ in America who could accurately claim to be the most important house DJ working today, it would be Doc Martin. The variation in his style of music is endless, spinning everything from deep house vocals to funky tribal bass lines mixed with threads of acid. Doc Martin has developed the respect as an established house DJ touring from New York to London, Japan, and everywhere in between. The legendary talent is coming to Shine Nightclub this Friday, August 29th. Event details
