BARTENDER’S BOOK CLUB

blacktailcocktail

This Tuesday, January 27th, Blacktail is hosting the first ever Bartenders Book Club in collaboration with the Terminal City Cocktail Classic and Pulp Fiction Books. This special event invites cocktail connoisseurs to join their fellow bartenders, industry professionals and aficionados to discuss the literary side of the industry, and discover coveted tricks of the trade.

On the last Tuesday of every month, likeminded individuals will discuss one cocktail, bartending, or spirits tome, both classic and cutting edge. The Blacktail Lounge will feature several cocktails from the pages of the menu all night long, and create a ‘by-the-book’ presentation of each for discussion of ingredients and technique. Copies of each month’s featured book and the next month’s volume will be available to purchase at a special book club rate.

This event is designed as an opportunity to bring cocktail book lovers from the community together. Admission to this event is free, with donations to the British Columbia Hospitality Foundation gratefully accepted. Visit here for more event details.

eastvanroastes1

Local chocolate makers are coming together to spike their hot chocolate drinks with the wildest, most delicious flavours you can imagine at the Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival – and this year, East Van Roasters will partake in all the decadent festivities.

Now until January 31st, the artisan chocolatier will offer ‘Monkey Manna’, a Peruvian drinking chocolate with pink peppercorn and vanilla, served with a chocolate dipped banana chip. From February 1st to 14th, visitors can enjoy the ‘Salty Malty’, a melted Madagascar drinking chocolate served with a salted chocolate chip cookie.

So, if that whets your chocolate cravings, come by for a taste and grab a few organic bean-to-bar chocolates or fresh mendiants for the road home. East Van Roasters is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm.
