FALL 2014 GASTOWN SHOP HOP

Gather your friends for a night of fashion, design and dining this Thursday, Oct 16^th, 5-9pm. For one night only, Gastown’s premier boutiques will open their doors until 9pm to showcase the latest looks and celebrate the biggest season of the year with music, treats and special promotions. Mix and mingle with the city’s most stylish, and shop to receive food vouchers to end the night with dining deals that will satisfy your appetite. GALLERY GACHET STREET ART WORKSHOP

Those who are fans of street art and want to learn more about the craft can join Gallery Gachet’s bi-monthly workshops happening every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month between 6-9pm. This peer-led workshop series explores the theory behind street art, and a variety of techniques including stenciling, spray painting, and wheat pasting. Visit here for more details.

CHILL WINSTON WINTER MENU LAUNCH

Chill Winston is no stranger to farm-to-table and has recently launched a new Winter 2014 menu showcasing a range of locally sourced meats and organic products. This season, the food-loving gastrolounge will feature octopus on crostini, duck taco, suckling pig platter, and a few vegan-friendly options. NINTH ANNUAL GAME & MUSHROOM FESTIVAL

In celebration of harvesting season, Sardine Can will partake in the ninth annual Game and Wild Mushroom Festival. From October 15th to November 2nd, the intimate tapas bar will offer guests a selection of local foraged mushrooms, flavourful game meats, and other specialty foods with daily chalkboard specials and fine wines to accompany them. Don’t miss out on an opportunity to taste freshly picked in-season mushrooms like chanterelle, matsutake, porcini, and black trumpet paired with an all-Spanish wine list. BRIEF ENCOUNTERS COMES TO GASTOWN

Performance art fans can feast their eyes on a unique series happening this week. Brief Encounters is an interdisciplinary performance series that fuses genres and pushes artistic boundaries.

Along with a Guest Programmer, 10 artists are matched into 5 unusual pairs. The partners meet for the first time two weeks prior to the show. From this point on, the only criteria is that they perform a new collaboration.

Brief Encounters will return to Guilt & Company on October 16th and 17th with a special edition show. Doors opens at 6:30pm, show is at 7pm. Visit here to purchase your ticket.
