THINGS TO CHECK OUT THIS WEEK IN GASTOWN
Written by Gastown Admin
PRE-SLICED PIZZA FUNDRAISER
Eating pizza for a great cause? Count us in. Nicli Antica Pizzeria is raising funds through a pre-sliced service on their pizzas – usually served slice-free in traditional Neapolitan form. For the month of December, get your pizza pre-sliced for $2 extra and all proceeds will go towards the Saint James Music Academy, an organization that offers free music education to children in low-income communities across Canada.
EXTENDED HOLIDAY SHOPPING HOURS
For those completing last-minute holiday shopping, select Gastown retailers will extend their shopping hours until 8pm, today (December 22nd) and Tuesday December 23rd.
Extended holiday shopping retailers include: Dutil, Ego Closet, Motherland, Rowan Sky, Old Faithful, Oak & Fort, Neighbour, Litchfield, and Tees.ca.
HOLIDAY VALET PARKING
There’s definitely a winter chill in the air. Luckily, you can stay warm and enjoy the luxury of having your car parked through Kit + Ace’s holiday valet service.
Stop by the Gastown studio at 21 Water St, shop their collection of chic cashmere, and enjoy two-hour complimentary valet parking on Christmas Eve (Dec 24th) between 10am to 3pm.
CHRISTMAS DAY IN GASTOWN
For those looking for an alternative to staying indoors on Christmas Day, here are a couple of options to consider.
Irish Heather will continue their holiday tradition and open their doors on December 25th. The Irish-owned gastropub has been a fixture on Christmas Day, drawing everyone from British and Irish ‘orphans’ stuck in Vancouver with nowhere to go, and locals looking for a sneaky pint and one of their meat pies.
Or, lend a helping hand at Lamplighter’s Orphans Christmas. This year, they are seeking volunteers to help distribute meals to those in need in the Downtown Eastside. Afterwards, everyone will gather up for a festive turkey dinner prepared by Chef Alvin Pillay. If you’d like to help, email dh@donnellygroup.ca.
