BURO COFFEE OPENS ON WATER STREET

Buro, a new espresso bar, is now open at 365 Water Street, and the window view alone is worth the visit.

Nestled inside the historic Holland Block, Buro focuses on making quality coffee, using a Spirit espresso machine and Kold Electronic Grinders that grind on reduced heat to add floral notes in your cup. Along with an espresso-based menu, Buro also offer Fetco CBS coffee brewers and fine pastries.

The new corner cafe takes inspiration from the French word, Bureau, with a clean modern space that’s designed to be an urban meeting place where coffee drinkers can socialize, plan and make things happen.

Come check out the new kids on the block. Buro is open seven days a week at the intersection of Water, Richards and Cordova.

NOTTURNO LAUNCHES NEW MENU FOR FALL

Fall has finally arrived. And with that, comes a new menu at Notturno. This month, the Italian boite celebrates the fall season with savoury new additions like mortadella double down with taleggio, marsala onions and spicy ‘Nduja tomato sauce.

Behind the bar, you can expect to see a strong focus on whisky. Bartender H has created an original set of tipples including The Worobec with American rye whiskey, Mezcal, lemon juice, bacon and apple tart syrup, salt, apple foam, house made mature cheddar dusting and smoked hickory bacon vapour.

Also, look out for the September edition of their monthly wine dinner series. On September 21st, Chef Robitaille is taking guests on a culinary journey to Rome. More menu details and pricing to come, but if you’d like to reserve your spot early, call Notturno at 604-720-3145.

SALT TASTING ROOM SERVES UP SAN SEBASTIAN EXPERIMENT

SaltDinner1

Salt Tasting Room has partnered with local specialty food vendor Bosa Foods to serve up San Sebastián-style dining by offering free tapas to hungry guests, beginning today (Sept 8).

On a recent trip to Spain, Bosa sourced a variety of high-quality, Spanish delicacies new to most Vancouver palettes. With a little help from Bosa, Salt is bringing a taste of this delectable foodie culture to Vancouverites, offering free tapas to patrons of the restaurant – just as they’re offered in tapas bars all over Spain.

With titillating plates piled with mixed olives, white anchovies, six-month aged manchego cheese, bone-in serrano ham, salchichon iberico and chorizo sausages, and marinated calamari rings, these Spanish goodies will likely have local foodies’ mouths watering.

Curious foodies who are ready for a taste of San Sebastián can visit Salt Tasting Room, September 8 to October 11, from 3-6pm. Parched patrons can order a tasting flight or glass of wine, beer or sherry, and enjoy complimentary tapas to sample Bosa’s new Spanish product line.

THE IRISH HEATHER REVIVES BELOVED LONG TABLE SERIES

LTSWhile you may be quietly mourning summer’s end, The Irish Heather has returned their beloved Long Table dinner series with a revamped menu. The LTS series kicked off yesterday, but you can still join them for a hearty meal at their upcoming dinner on September 21st.

Come together with friends old and new at the 40-foot long communal table to mix, mingle and enjoy classic comfort dishes paired with local craft beers from Russell Brewing. Cozy up to savour dishes such as Chicken Ballantine with roasted kale and carrots, sweet potatoes and peas, or oven-roasted steelhead trout with lemon and dill risotto, green beans and parsley sauce.

Originally created as an alternative dining experience for folks when the recession was biting hard, the Long Table Series continues to provide a unique experience at a great price. For just $18 per person (plus taxes and gratuities), we’re sure the long table tradition will continue to be a Vancouver favourite.
