TRUVELLE DEBUTS NEW RETAIL SPACE

There’s a new bridal boutique in the neighoubrhood. Truvelle has opened the doors to its new brick & mortar location on 235 Cambie where bride-to-be’s can view Gastown designer Gaby Bayona’s collection of handmade bridal gowns. For the modern bride that prefers a refined, elegant look, the new storefront provides inspiration and is available for both drop-ins and appointments from Tuesday to Sunday from 12 – 6pm

NOTTURNO LAUNCHES NEW MONTHLY MENU

Notturno is plating new additions into their regular roundup for August. The cicchetti-theme menu, which rotates monthly, features vine-ripened potatoes, Italian sausage with peppers, and hot & Dijons mustards. At the bar, cocktail expert, H, is mixing new concoctions like The Sensation with gin, mint, lemon and maraschino. If you’re itching for an original libation, try H’s Puff ‘n Stuff, a mix of vodka, strawberry puree, cracked pepper syrup, ricotta cheese, lemon juice, egg whites, mint and balsamic pearls.

Notturno’s monthly wine dinner series returns on Monday August 24th and will pay homage to British Columbia. Stay tuned for more details on menu and pricing.

FATHER CRY$$$ TOUR AT ALEXANDER GASTOWN

Father “CRY$$$” Tour is hitting Vancouver tonight (August 4th). Atlanta Rapper and Awful Records ring leader, brings his Awful Records Tour to Alexander Gastown performing hits like “Look At Wrist”. Special guests include Keithcharles Spacebar and Slug Christ. Visit here for ticket information.

THAT’S HOW GASTOWN ROLLS

Friends of Shannon Elmer’s are planning That’s How Gastown Rolls – a fundraising pub crawl in her honour after a tragic snowboarding accident left her with a major spinal cord injury. This pub crawl features Gastown pubs: The Bourbon, The Metropole, Blarney Stone, Portside Pub and more. A $20 ticket will get you access to the August 6th event, which starts at 9pm.

BEHIND THE GOLD VEIL EXHIBITION

Inuit Gallery invites guests to view exquisite works by artist, Rande Cook in ‘Behind the Gold Veil’, on display now until August 21st. In Behind the Gold Veil, Rande Cook explores the metaphorical value and material possibilities of gold and its relationship to tradition, narrative, and spirituality. Rande Cook’s artistic practice reflects his awareness of the complex relationship between his cultural traditions and the modern world, and his embrace of new mediums revives traditional narratives in a new light. We’re excited about this delightful new addition to Gastown. This new café offers Bow + Arrows coffee, locally grown flowers and homemade food. The team makes their own yogurt and pickled vegetables, and entices with a simple menu of sandwiches, salads and snacks. Try their house soda and catch up on your reading at their communal table.

AESOP COMES TO GASTOWN

Australian apothecary, Aesop, is now open at 19 Water Street (right next to Secret Location). With skin, hair and body care products, each store is unique, often executed by a local design studio to create a one-of-a-kind space. Step into the space and you’ll be wowed by the use of wood.

18TH AMENDMENT OPENS

Gastown’s newest barbershop has arrived. Veteran barbers Nick Hickling and Jake Hurn hold down the forte, located at 77 E. Cordova. Get yourself cleaned up with a hot towel shave or ‘stache/beard trim, or stock up on homemade pomade, beard oils and moustache waxes.
