MEET GASTOWN’S NEWEST SALON, HOUSE OF BLOND
Looking for a new hairstylist? House of Blond has opened its doors at 508 – 55 Water St, bringing a team of hair wizards that specialize in an amalgamation of techniques from men’s fading to corrective colour work. Nestled inside the 55 Water building, their house features custom hand designed wood furniture, along with a rotation of local art. If you’re looking for a space to host daily workshops, photoshoots or classes, the boutique salon is also available for private rentals.
GASTOWN SHUFFLE RETURNS
The Gastown Shuffle is back for its fifth edition with five pubs, five drinks and a live performance from Girlfriends & Boyfriends. This event is a one-night pub crawl with complimentary feature drinks and special offers.
Pick up your lanyards at any of the participating pubs leading up to the event date. On Thursday, August 27th, shuffle your way around the neighbourhood, enjoy feature drinks at Gastown Shuffle venues, and get your lanyards punched at all five spots to gain free entry to the Gastown Shuffle 5 After Party at The Lamplighter.

GARETH EMERY X BLUEPRINT EVENTS
Blueprint Events has partnered with internationally acclaimed DJ/producer, Gareth Emery, for a private and intimate event that supports The Greater Vancouver Food Bank and Gareth’s charity, Electric For Life Foundation, on Thursday, August 27th at M.I.A.
Gareth has agreed to waive his artist fee in support of the event, where 100% of ticket sales will directly benefit the The Greater Vancouver Food Bank. Blueprint & M.I.A. will also donate a portion of the bar sales in support of the The Greater Vancouver Food Bank that evening.

PORTSIDE HOSTS FADE PHENOM BATTLE & ANNIVERSARY BASH
There’s lots going down at The Portside Pub this week! On Wednesday, August 26th, The Fade Phenom Battle gets underway from 6-10pm. Barbers will battle it out for best fade, artistic freestyle, classic haircut, and judges choice. Special guest judge, Julius Cvesar (aka Master Barber) will partake in a meet and greet between 5-6pm. Click here to purchase your ticket.
As a special thank you to their devoted patrons, Portside is also hosting a special anniversary bash on Thursday, August 27th. CELEBRTING 25 YEARS OF B.C. WINES
British Columbia has a lot to brag about, especially when it comes to food and wine. On Tuesday August 25th, Wines of British Columbia, along with some of the province’s most celebrated chefs will honour the 25th anniversary of B.C. wines with a special dinner in L’Abattoir’s private dining room.
Join Executive Chef Lee Cooper when he hosts guest chefs Vikram Vij of Vij’s, Scott Jaeger of The Pear Tree and Bernard Casavant of Okanagan College. The evening will include exquisite food pairings with some of B.C.’s best wines.
Joined by these top chefs are special guests Steven Spurrier (Decanter Magazine and the Judgment of Paris), sommelier and emcee DJ Kearney, as well as B.C. winemakers.

B.C. BOUNTY WINE DINNER
Notturno’s monthly wine dinner series returns tonight (Aug 24) – and this time, they’re staying local. Chef Bill Robitaille and Ben DeChamplain will showcase some of the best ingredients of the season inspired by the tastes and flavours of British Columbia. The night’s menu features salon tartare, olive oil poached halibut, coffee-butter pheasant, blue cheese crème brule and more.

Join Guilt & Co as they welcome the Gabriel Palatchi Trio to the stage on Friday, August 28th. Gabriel Palatchi’s music is an original blend of different genres including Latin Jazz, Gyspy, Reggae, Samba and Klezmer. The dynamic group was formed in Mexico and has since collaborated with international musicians from Cuba, Peru, Argentina, and beyond.
