Latest Exhibition: Feather + Bone by Leah Pipe
Inuit Gallery

Now until October 5

Over the past year we’ve been delighted by Leah Pipe’s images of ravens swooping across solid fields of white canvas or the depiction of a raven, head turned as its attention is caught by something outside the viewer’s vision, feathers ruffled by a light wind, and sunlight catching the colours that hide within the black sheen of its feathers. In this new collection of paintings Leah has turned her considerable talents to capturing the subtleties of fragility and strength inherent in single feathers, antlers and bones. As Leah says:

“Despite these opposites, feathers and antlers are extraordinarily similar … They are both fragile, yet sturdy. This combination adds to their allure and mystical feel … I hope this collection inspires people to explore the intricate details of Feather + Bone – to take the time to inspect them, journey through them and appreciate their message and beauty and remind you and inspire you to be Soft + Strong at the same time.”

All works are available immediately.Gastown’s newest sneaker store NFS – opening this week on Water Street

Caffé Di Beppe’s New, Fully Licensed Curbside Patio
(photo: scoutmagazine.ca)

Di Beppe’s has gone all out al fresco. The caffe’s 24 seat patio is part of a pilot program by the City of Vancouver to test the viability of curb side patios in urban areas. These patios use parking spaces rather than sidewalk space to encourage and create a sense of community. Expected to be open throughout September, the area is fully licensed. Nestled under a big beautiful oak tree, the patio is the perfect addition, allowing the the magic of Caffè Di Beppe to float out onto the street and into the sun.
