BACK IN TIME
The Portside Pub is going way back to a time when high waisted jeans were the bomb (wait… they still are). Think music on vinyl and $4 Jameson that will have you shaking your hair like you just don’t care. The party goes down on Thursday, March 24 at 8pm. Find out more here.
WHEN ONE DOOR OPENS…
After a quick kitchen upgrade, Bao Down is back and serving something new – Poke Bowls! We’re talking lettuce, carrots, daikon, ginger, bean sprouts, pea shoots, avocado, pineapple, cucumber, scallions, rice noodles and tuna under sesame sweet soy or gochujang mayo. Across the street, Birds & the Beets will be closed until Thursday for some renovations of their own.
INFOCUS OPEN HOUSE
On Saturday, April 2nd, InFocus Film School is opening their doors to everyone. It’s a chance to learn about career opportunities in the industry, connect with instructors, view student work and even sit in on complimentary lighting and directing workshops. Learn more on their event page here.
BRUNCHING
If your long weekend plans include brunch, check back on Wednesday for a full list of where to nosh in Gastown. We’ve got about a dozen spots to talk about and it’s going to be good.
SLOW JAMS
Tickets for the Easter return of Slow Jam Sundays at Alexander Gastown went on sale over the weekend. It goes down on March 27th – $15 in advance / $20 at the door – and will be hosted by the SJS Crew. As they say, it’s music to make babies by. Just not while you’re still in the club. Find out more here.
