THIS WEEK IN GASTOWN
Written by Gastown Admin
BIEBER’S DJ BRINGS THE BEATS
Ok, it’s not actually happening this week, but you’ll probably want to get tickets now. Alexander Gastown + Hyphy are presenting DJ Tay James with DJs Marvel & Jolin Ras on Friday, January 15th. James is Justin Bieber’s official DJ (whatever that means) having hooked up with the Beebs back in 2009.
THE WORLD ON A PLATE
If you managed not to stuff yourself senseless over the holidays, you should check out the latest in dining at Secret Location. Executive Chef Montgomery Lau has put together a series of six course tasting menus that showcase the very best of the world’s cuisine. From January 6th to March 1st, each will commemorate historic eras marked by politics, geography and beliefs, focusing on memorable stories told through food.
La Belle Époque, Paris | January 6-19
Prohibition Americas | January 20-February 2
Chinese New Year, Revisited | February 3-11
Dining with the Gods, Athens | February 12-14
Slow Food Italiana | February 17-March 1
COWBOY SURFERS TAKE GASTOWN
When a band is described as ‘self-professed rock-n-roll cowboy surfers’, how can you not want to check it out? The Modelos are coming to Guilt & Company this Friday night for a live performance that blends surf instrumentals with their alternative country sound. Colour me intrigued!
GET READY TO DINE OUT
The full list of restaurants participating this year will be up on Wednesday and we’ll have the breakdown of which Gastown spots are in. The Dine Out Vancouver festival runs January 15th to 31st.
NOUVELLE NOUVELLE IS TAKING THE WEEK OFF
If you’ve got a hankering for something from Nouvelle Nouvelle, head to the web. The shop is closed this week (Monday to Friday) as they prep their spring stock.
