DOWNS HOUSE II BOOK LAUNCH

Inform Interiors

50 Water St

November 3rd, 5 to 7pm

The recently published monograph ‘Downs House II’ presents an original and comprehensive overview of the home that local architect Barry Downs built for his family in West Vancouver. This house of modest proportions presents the key and formative qualities that have come to represent a West Coast Modern idiom in architecture.

The monograph is the second in a series initiated by the School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture at the University of British Columbia, highlighting the accomplishments of a generation of architects while acknowledging the fragility of their creations.

Please join us in launching this important new contribution to local architectural publishing, including a conversation between author Christopher Macdonald and the architect Barry Downs.

DESIGN AND DEFIANCE FIND THEIR HOME

AT DURANT SESSIONS

The converging artists are known for overturning the conventions of their respective fields and bringing a provocative, punk sentimentality to opulent design.
