Kaikado
@Inform Interiors

June 15 – 17

Inform will be hosting master craftsman Taka from the legendary Japanese manufacturer Kaikado. He will be demonstrating his work in their front window, June 15th to 17th from 11am to 3pm. Visit the store while Taka is there and receive a free personalized engraved scoop with the purchase of a Tea Caddy.

Kaikado was established in 1875, shortly after Japan opened its doors to the rest of the world. With welcoming outside civilizations came the import of tinplate from England. Tin was used for the plating of steel, and was considered a fashionable foreign-made item at that time.

On Thursday the 15th from 5 to 7pm, there will be a formal presentation. RSVP is required, please fill out this form to attend.

Uncovering the Archive
@Gallery Gachet

June 16  12-6pm

As you may know Gachet will be moving this summer (more details coming soon!) The back studio is bursting at the seams and they need to reunite artwork, tools and other treasures with their owners. Artwork and other items not picked up by June 30th will be sold at a moving sale on July 6th and 7th.

Over the years the 88 East Cordova location of Gallery Gachet has hosted some amazing exhibitions and events and been a home-base to many talented artists. The back studio, cubby holes, nooks and crannies hold a time capsule from our past. From noon till 6pm the gallery will host an open house where the community can stop by to help sort through their 20 years of archival material and visit with friends to share stories.

 Rusty Zinn
@Guilt & Co

June 16
Doors 8pm/Show 10pm
Pay-What-You-Can

Rusty’s mix of classic reggae, rock steady and ska is imbued throughout with the sound of his magnificent voice, his hook laden original compositions and his thorough understanding of the place of soul in Jamaican music. Of the twelve tunes on ‘The Reggae Soul of Rusty Zinn’, (RockBeat Records) nine are written by Rusty, and show his command of the craft. Meaningful lyrics, memorable and melodic tunes set in timelessly crisp productions, all topped off by his warm and intimate voice. The kind of songs that should be on every radio stations’ playlist.
