Lee Nicholas has been playing guitar for over thirty years, mostly self-taught. Despite practicing lead guitar daily for many years, he found himself stuck in a rut, unable to move beyond the pentatonic scale. He tried numerous books, videos, and even private lessons, but his improvising skills remained stagnant. His solos sounded predictable and boring, despite having most techniques down. One day, while experimenting with some ideas, Lee had a Eureka moment. He finally broke through the wall and started moving forward again. He realized that instead of avoiding the pentatonic scale, he needed to dive deeper into it. The music he loves is dominated by the pentatonic scale, especially in guitar solos. Boring, predictable solos aren’t due to a limited scale but rather limited knowledge and experience in using it creatively. Now, his solos are more dynamic and engaging, and he is excited to share his journey and insights with others.
