Whether you miss your family and friends back home that cannot be with you, or simply love the Irish Culture, The Irish Heather has got you covered.
The Irish Heather is Vancouver’s only Irish-owned bar and will stay true to the tradition of the holiday. On March 17th, The Heather Group will honour its 18th year of celebrating St. Patrick’s Day since the opening of The Irish Heather. Hoist a pint and savour classic Irish dishes over lunch or dinner – think hearty pot pies, fish & chips, and bangers & mash. To get patrons into festive spirits, Irish pipers and dancers (include owner Sean Heather’s own daughter, Orla) will entertain crowds throughout the evening.
As with years past, the Heather Group has secured Rainier Provisions across the street for “Baby Heather.” So at the very least patrons will get a seat and a drink there, while waiting for space to open in The Irish Heather.
Reservations are recommended. Please email reso[at]irishheather.com. Bookings will be limited to 2 or 3-hour slots.
Or, if you prefer to keep it casual, Six Acres will host its monthly Cask Night with special casks from Four Winds Brewing Company.
If you’re down for fun entertainment, Blarney Stone is the place to be. In celebration of St. Paddy’s, the team is planning a five-day festival that runs from Friday March 13th to Tuesday March 17th. The weekend will kick off with live performances from The Unusual Suspects, DJ Steel, and Irish & Scottish dance troupes.
On Sunday March 15th, join them for a special family-fun event open to all ages. Entertainment includes Irish dance, circus and live music performances, free painting, and balloon twisting.
Or, be the first to ring in the holiday with a balloon-drop countdown on Monday March 16th.
Blarney Stone’s main event takes place on St. Patrick’s Day. The 200 Block of Carrall Street will be lined with outdoor tents for a grand street party. Come by for free balloons, face painting and Irish party favours. Danny Bhoy, The Sheets, Kilarney will perform throughout the day.
