Chef Jason Sussman and Kaeli Robinsong of Tacofino have been making waves since stepping into Tofino’s food truck scene in 2009. Since its inception, Tacofino has become synonymous with fresh Baja-style tacos and Mexican fare. With the help of Ryan Spong, they expanded across the province with permanent digs in Victoria and Vancouver. Tonight, Tacofino’s new flagship location will open for its first public service and promises to offer both favourites and new crave-worthy options in an expanded menu.

The ‘Taco Bar’ occupies a 3,000 square-foot space that features a 80-seat dining room with a 20-seat bar serving tequila, mescal-style cocktails, local beers and imported cerveza. Decorated with wood accents, handmade lights and patterned tiles, the space has a laid-back SoCal beach vibe that appeals to locals looking for a bit of sunshine while they nosh.

The ‘Burrito Bar’ take-out counter adjoins the flagship in a separate entrance at 15 West Cordova, paying homage to their iconic food trucks with a variety of grab-and-go tacos and burritos for less than $11.

Futher details on Taco Bar’s menu will be revealed in tonight’s opening. To stay up to date with the latest developments, give them a follow on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
