This month brings our second night in our new summer event series: Gastown Thursday Nights. Gastown is the place to be on the last Thursday of July and August 2019 with solid shopping, sales, in-store events, music, and fantastic food. Stay tuned by following our event page here.
Wednesday, July 10th 5.30pm
This July 10th, the cobblestones in Gastown will rattle as pro class cyclists from around the world compete in North America’s largest criterium race. The Global Relay Gastown Grand Prix, now in its 45th year, transforms the neighbourhood into a streetwide race track that see riders speeding by at up to 60km/hour. It ‘s thrilling to watch and free to attend. The GGP boasts the highest one day prize purse for both the winning prize and total prize purse for a Canadian Criterium. With over 20,000 spectators in attendance it’s sure to be an electrifying experience. A criterium, or crit, is a bike race consisting of several laps around a closed circuit, the length of each lap or circuit ranging from about 800 m to 10,000 m. In addition to the race, riders compete for bonus prizes (primes) consisting of cash and equipment.

Recently opened in the Le Magasin Building on Water Street, Roma Fashion sells Italian and European clothing and accessories for men and women. The boutique carries lines that are known and available only in Europe, with many pieces that stand out among the pack. Expect glittery party dresses, Italian stacked heel oxfords and plush loafers, long, flowing and billowy all black/white oversize shirts, dresses and rompers, and solid coloured stretch cotton t-shirts.

FABCYCLE is a collection service of fabric waste that works with local garment manufacturers, fashion designers and schools to divert textile waste from the landfill.
