Truvelle Bridal Steps Out of the Studio for a Summer Pop-Up

It’s a nice day for a white wedding. Ok, maybe not today, but it is the start of the season and to celebrate, Gastown’s Truvelle is hosting a pop-up shop on Abbott.

Invitations are already in the mail for the first summer weddings and brides are hitting the shops in search of the perfect gown. Enter Gaby Bayona and a perfectly timed pop up for her stunning designs.

Truvelle is only a couple years old, but Gaby’s streamlined gowns for modern brides are already available in boutiques across Canada, the USA, Australia, South Africa and Germany. The label takes up two upper level studios in Gastown, but doesn’t have a street level boutique presence anywhere else in the city.

PopUp-Truvelle2On Saturday, Gaby opened the doors to her two-week pop up shop at 315 Abbott, giving local brides an opportunity to search the sample racks and preview a few of her 2016 designs. Visitors will also get a chance to check out the Truvelle Maker Collaboration, with exclusive accessory designs by Catherine Hartley Jewellery & Olivia.

Gaby got her start in her mother’s custom bridal boutique, lending an extra set of hands through her high school years and eventually designing a small collection of her own. In 2013, she applied for a start up loan and ventured out on her own.

Truvelle appeals to the sharp, independent and modern woman who is youthful in age and attitude. Each gown is effortlessly beautiful with a flattering silhouette and a style that is steps away from typical bridal costume. The uniqueness of the bridal collection follows the brand’s inspiration – ‘trouvaille’ – meaning ‘something lovely discovered by chance’.

PopUp-Truvelle1Each gown is made by hand in Gastown, allowing Gaby to oversee everything. The small-scale operation provides off-the-rack options and individual customization where requested so that every bride gets exactly what she wants.

Truvelle’s 2016 collection has been under wraps as the team travelled to Barcelona and southern Spain to shoot the lookbook. It was part of a two-month tour that also took Gaby from Las Vegas, California and New York to London, Paris and Amsterdam.

The pop-up shop will be open until May 31st, or for a more personal bridal appointment, there’s always the option to schedule a private consultation at Truvelle’s Gastown showroom located at #607 – 55 Water Street.
